Byron: Firefighters Battle 146-Acre Vegetation Fire on Bruns Road

At 1:05 pm Monday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District was dispatched to a report of a vegetation fire in the area of 8000 block of Bruns Road off Byron Highway in the Town of Byron.

According to the reporting part, the fire was a 100 x 400 foot fire that was wind driven. While units were responding, it was reported that smoke was showing from the City of Brentwood and the City of Oakley.

By 1:15 pm, Engine 59 was on scene was reporting a large column of smoke and requested CALFIRE also respond. A short time later, they requested a full vegetation fire. It was reported that Tracy Fire and Alameda County was also responding.

As of 1:47 pm, the fire was estimated at 10-acres and were fighting to get containment.

As of 2:47 pm update, Battalion 5 reported the fire was at 120 acres and 90% contained.

CALFIRE reported by 9:00 pm that after mapping, the incident was officially 146.5 acres.
