Brentwood: Vasco Road Crash Blocks Lanes During Evening Commute

At 5:23 pm Wednesday, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters were dispatched to a report of a head-on-crash at Vasco Road at Marsh Creek Road.

According to a police unit on scene, the crash was actually located on Highway 4 between Marsh Creek Road and Balfour. A medical helicopter was requested at time of dispatch, however, they declined due to weather.

By 5:31 pm, Engine 52 arrived on scene with CHP to a two-vehicle crash (head-on) with one patient still inside the vehicle.  They confirmed the patient was trapped and was in need of extrication.

The northbound lane of traffic was blocked according to CHP.

According to Battalion Chief 5, a total of three AMR units were requested as they had a total of 3-patients. One patient was suffering from major injuries while two patients sustained moderate injuries.

By 5:35 pm, a CHP helicopter (H30) was responding to the scene to transport victims.
