Brentwood: Two Injured After Red Light Runner Crashes into Truck on Balfour Road

On Wednesday at 10:00 am, two people were injured after a vehicle crash collision occurred at the intersection at Balfour Road at Walnut in the City of Brentwood.

According to Brentwood police, preliminary information was a sedan was traveling eastbound on Balfour slammed into a truck traveling southbound on Walnut after running a red light. The impact caused the truck to end up on its side while spinning around.

At the time of the crash, a medical helicopter was requested due to major injuries sustained by the driver in the truck, however, AMR opted for ground transport to a local hospital. The driver of the sedan sustained minor injuries but was also transported to a local hospital.

The incident shut down traffic on southbound Walnut Blvd. as East Contra Costa Fire Protection District crews worked the incident. There was also a lane of eastbound Balfour also shut down while fire crews had the road blocked.

The incident is being investigated by Brentwood Police.

This should shock no one. In Brentwood, red lights mean green.
