The Brentwood Police Department announced the arrest of two individuals for possession of stolen mail and financial information.
Police say in the early morning hours of Sept. 23, officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop on Balfour Road and Walnut Boulevard, after observing a suspicious vehicle driving through a residential neighborhood.
The occupants of the vehicle, Sophan Chouk and Angelica Rodriguez, were found in possession of stolen mail and financial information from a Brentwood neighborhood, stolen credit cards that had been fraudulently used in several different cities, and items used to forge fraudulent checks.
Both subjects were booked into county jail on a variety of charges.
If you think you have had your mail or identifying information stolen, please contact the Brentwood Police Department Dispatch Center at (925)809-7911.
The Police Department provided the following mail tip:
If you have a mailbox that does not lock, please avoid placing checks, financial information/ documents, or personal identifying information (especially your social security number) in your mailbox for outgoing mail. The red flag that is pulled up to signify outgoing mail, is also a flag that criminals look for when passing through neighborhoods.
You may consider replacing your mailbox with a locking mailbox for additional security.
