Brentwood: Schwartz Arrested For Inappropriate Touching of a Child

Ronald Schwartz, 65, a real estate broker in Danville, was charged by the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office with two counts of oral copulation on a minor and two counts of engaging in oral copulation and penetration with a child 10 years old or younger, Brentwood police Sgt. Tim Herbert said.

On 9/24/2012 the Brentwood Police Department completed a 3 month long investigation into allegations of inappropriate touching of a child against Ronald Schwartz 65 of Brentwood.   As a result of this investigation Schwartz was charged by the District Attorney with 2 counts of Penal Code section 288(a) and 2 counts of Penal Code section 288.7(b).  Schwartz turned himself into the Contra Costa County Jail on a $2,000,000 warrant where he remains in custody as of this press release.  If anyone has information related to this investigation please contact Detective Thompson at 925-809-7765.

Penal Code section 288(a)

288.  (a) Except as provided in subdivision (i), any person who
willfully and lewdly commits any lewd or lascivious act, including
any of the acts constituting other crimes provided for in Part 1,
upon or with the body, or any part or member thereof, of a child who
is under the age of 14 years, with the intent of arousing, appealing
to, or gratifying the lust, passions, or sexual desires of that
person or the child, is guilty of a felony and shall be punished by
imprisonment in the state prison for three, six, or eight years.

Penal Code section 288.7(b)

288.7.  (a) Any person 18 years of age or older who engages in
sexual intercourse or sodomy with a child who is 10 years of age or
younger is guilty of a felony and shall be punished by imprisonment
in the state prison for a term of 25 years to life.
   (b) Any person 18 years of age or older who engages in oral
copulation or sexual penetration, as defined in Section 289, with a
child who is 10 years of age or younger is guilty of a felony and
shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for a term of
15 years to life.
