Brentwood Police Make Arrest in Unusual Vandalism Case

by ECT

The Brentwood Police Department have arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with vandalism of multiple homes that were discovered Saturday morning.

According to police, Douglas Crosby, 37, is the son of the victim in the 2800 block of Garden Side Ct. A home on Hawthorn Ct. was also vandalized with spray paint claiming the family had been taken and were being held hostage.

Sgt. O’Grodnick explained the arrest occurred when a patrol officer spotted Crosby walking near Lone Tree Way and Slatten Ranch on Sept. 5. They believe the vandalism occurred sometime late Friday evening on Sept. 4.

According to police, the family says Douglas has a history of mental illness and believes his family will be taken hostage, however, police have not been able to confirm any form of mental illness as of Wednesday afternoon.

Police say this appears to be an isolated incident and nothing to support any type of hostage situation.

They did explain that any type of spray-painting or graffiti that causes more than $400 is considered a felony as well as anything considered a hate crime–although this incident was not considered a hate crime.
