Brentwood: Patient Treated for Smoke Inhalation After Kitchen Fire

At 10:17 pm Tuesday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a structure fire in the 700 block of Brentwood Blvd in Brentwood.

Upon arrival, Battalion Chief 5 arrived on scene to a two-story multi-family apartment complex to locate light smoke coming from a bottom floor appointment. It was reported by Brentwood Police who was on scene that all occupants had already been evacuated from the building and there was a report of a fire in the kitchen sink.

Engine 93 (Oakley) arrived on scene and was assigned fire attack with Engine 94 (Knightsen) was providing safety. Engine 93 located a small smoldering fire near the kitchen sink and it was extinguished quickly while ventilation of the apartment was conducted.

According to Jake Gonzalez, BC5, there was moderate damage to the stove top, kitchen sink, counter top and cabinets. He says the fire appears accidental in nature due to cooking. The total estimated damage was unknown.

The resident was transported by ground ambulance with possible smoke inhalation.
