Update: Discovery Bay Man Airlifted to Hospital After Early Morning Motorcycle Crash in Brentwood

At 3:55 am Sunday, East Contra Costa Fire and Brentwood Police responded to a report of a vehicle accident in the 3100 block of Balfour Road in Brentwood.

Upon arrival, firefighters located a vehicle versus motorcycle accident where Brentwood Police were on scene with a subject down in the roadway.

The patient was transported by AMR to a medical helicopter and then flown to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.

According to Battalion Chief Jeff Burris, the patient was suffering both head and internal injuries.

No further details were provided and the incident is being investigated by the Brentwood Police Department.

According to folks in Brentwood, as of 7:30 am, the intersection at Balfour and Fairview is still blocked off.

Update per Brentwood Police:

When officers arrived it was determined that a Mercedes C230 and a Harley Davidson motorcycle had collided.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 35 year old male out of Discovery Bay, was suffering from what appeared to be major injuries and was later flown to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the motorcycle is expected to recover from his injuries.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 28 year old male and his 26 year old passenger both from Brentwood sustained minor injuries and declined medical treatment.

It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in the collision and the Brentwood Police Department is currently investigating the collision. If anyone has any information, please contact Officer Colburn in our Traffic Safety Unit at 925-634-6911.
