Brentwood Library Foundation Receives Major Grant

by ECT

The Brentwood Library Foundation announced that the Dean & Margaret Lesher Foundation has awarded the Brentwood Library Foundation a $300,000 grant for furnishings and technology in the new downtown library. This grant will greatly assist in keeping the library on track to open late in the summer of 2018, ready to serve our communities of Brentwood, Byron, and Discovery Bay.

The Dean & Margaret Lesher Foundation, based in Walnut Creek, was founded in 1989 and is deeply committed to education, literacy and civic engagement, all of which will be furthered through Brentwood’s new public library.  The Foundation’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in Contra Costa County through charitable giving in the areas of education, the arts, and children and families.  The Lesher Foundation will be recognized in the library on the top tier of the Keystone Donor Circle.

The Brentwood Library Foundation continues to raise funds for additional technology, public art and an increased book and audiovisual collection. The library will also have a makerspace with equipment such as a 3-D printer. More information on donating can be found at www.brentwoodlibraryfoundation.org.

“The Lesher Foundation grant is an invaluable part of our fundraising effort. It provides us an opportunity to build upon the wonderful generosity of individuals, businesses, and groups who share our desire to make the new library a place with exceptional resources and spaces for our community,” said the Brentwood Library Foundation President, Diane Alexander.
