At 9:30 pm Wednesday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District was dispatched to a report of a vegetation fire along Vasco Road near Marsh Creek Road in Brentwood.
Upon arrival, Battalion Chief Jake Gonzalez located a 2-acre vegetation fire in the field with light fuels and moderate slope. Firefighters from the District, along with CALFIRE quickly attacked the fire in the 90-degree weather and began fire operations.
With low winds, the fire was limited to 15-acres which consisted of grass and brush with other abandoned items.
No injuries were reported and crews were committed to the incident for nearly 5-hours.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by CAL-FIRE.
