Brentwood Cuts July Water Usage by 44 Percent, Surpass 4 Million Gallons of Recycled Water

According to Brentwood City Manager Gus Vina, Since the City declared a drought emergency on May 26, Brentwood residents have united to conserve water to meet the state mandate. In July 2015, residential potable water use was cut down by 44% compared to July 2013.

As a reminder, the following water conservation measures, rebates and penalties are in effect and began with the July utility billing cycle.

Two Ways to Comply

There are two ways for residential and commercial customers to comply with the required monthly potable water use reductions:

  1. Percentage -reduce monthly potable water usage by 35% from 2013 usage (compared by month); OR
  1. Citywide Averages -stay within the following Citywide monthly averages
    • Residential: May –Oct. = 11,000 gallons or less; and Nov. –Apr. = 5,000 gallons or less
    • Commercial: May –Oct. = 32,000 gallons or less; and Nov. –Apr. = 24,000 gallons or less

Recycled Water Fill Station:
According to information provided by Mayor Bob Taylor, he highlighted a note provided by staff that shows the City has 1200 registered users at the fill station and have given away 4 million gallons of recycled water to over 19,000 vehicles in just over 7 weeks.
