Brentwood: CHP Pursuit Ends With Two In-Custody, Firearms Recovered

by ECT

BRENTWOOD, Calif. – At around 12:45 PM, a CHP Officer attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on a Honda Accord for missing license plates. The Honda initially slowed to a stop ahead of the patrol vehicle; however, as soon as the CHP Office approached the vehicle on foot the vehicle accelerated away.

A CHP motorcycle officer, who was assisting in the traffic stop, immediately gave chase to the fleeing vehicle.

IMG_7383The CHP officer who had initiated the stop jumped back into his patrol car and quickly caught up to the suspect vehicle. As the Accord sped away two handguns wrapped in a sweatshirt were tossed out of the window. The Honda turned down Surrey Court at Valley Green Drive and abruptly made a U-turn at the end of the cul-de-sac. The Honda sped toward the patrol car and collided with it head-on.

Both the passenger and the driver attempted to take foot bail.

A Brentwood Police Department unit was in position to assist our officers in that moment. The passenger was caught almost immediately by Brentwood Police as was the driver shortly thereafter. Both suspects were arrested.

The CHP Officer was able to exit his patrol vehicle after the collision and was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

This incident is still pending further investigation.

Update:

The passenger, Rashad Ali Frazier (21) from Alameda, was caught almost immediately by Brentwood Police as was the driver, DeShawn Robinson (20) from Richmond, shortly thereafter. Both suspects were arrested.

Editors Notes:

Upon arrival, a CHP officer was being checked out by AMR for injuries, he appeared okay. The vehicle, had a license plate out of Washington while one suspect was in custody on Coventry after the foot pursuit while the other suspect was near the vehicle at Valley Green.
