BRENTWOOD, CA – At a special City Council meeting today, the Brentwood City Council approved an agreement for Interim City Manager services.

Mr. Steve Salomon will serve as the City’s Interim City Manager for approximately six months, or until a permanent City Manager is selected.

Upon notification of the current City Manager’s (Paul Eldredge) planned resignation, the City Council asked the City Attorney and Mr. Eldredge to work with the Mayor and Vice Mayor to develop a list of qualified and available candidates who would have an interest in serving as Interim City Manager. A list of ten candidates was narrowed to three, and the City Council recently interviewed two candidates and ended up selecting Mr. Steve Salomon.

The City Council stated during the Council meeting that, “they look forward to working with Mr. Salomon and feel fortunate that he was available for this assignment.”

A recent resident of Brentwood, Mr. Salomon, has enjoyed a successful career in local government spanning over 40 years. He has previously served as a City Manager or City Administrator in several California cities including Hercules, Albany and Watsonville.

Mr. Salomon’s most recent position was as the City Manager of Visalia, California, where he served for 17 years. In addition to typical city services of public safety, community development, recreation and parks, the city operates an airport, convention center, golf course, transit system, wastewater services and solid waste enterprises. He has a Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning, with a minor in Public Administration from Ohio State University. In addition, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis on transportation and public works from the University of Cincinnati.

The hourly rate charged by Management Partners for services performed by Mr. Salomon will be $145.00 plus expenses. Mr. Salomon will not receive any benefits from the City (e.g. health, vision, dental insurance, life insurance, or other benefits typically received by management employees).
