The City of Brentwood has announced that starting Wednesday, March 25, 2020, all Brentwood playgrounds, sport courts and picnic areas will be temporarily closed.
The move comes after the city observed many people using the parks, courts and picnic areas after the Contra Costa County Health Services issued a direction regarding outdoor activities in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19).
“With the weather predicted to warm up next week, we anticipate that our parks will continue to be popular areas for residents to get outside and enjoy some outdoor activity. Although our parks and trails remain open, the areas we are closing are natural social gathering areas and to keep them open allows social gathering to occur,” said the city in a release.
Closure signs will be posted to remind the public that these areas are temporarily closed and to please follow Contra Costa Health Services Guidelines.
