BRENTWOOD, CA – The City of Brentwood is pleased to announce that it has received a development application for a new 151 Room La Quinta and Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham.

The proposed hotel is a dual branded hotel by Wyndham Hotels & Resorts to be located at 2325 Sand Creek Road within The Streets of Brentwood, a premier lifestyle and destination shopping center. The planned project is currently under review with the City of Brentwood Community Development Department. Plans are on file at: Development Activity Project List

The City of Brentwood Economic Development Strategic Plan invests city resources into strengthening and expanding the local hospitality industry to meet the needs of tourists, workers and residents. Economic development continues to be a premiere strategic focus area for the City of Brentwood. The proposed hotel will nearly double the amount of hotel rooms currently available in the Brentwood market serving both business needs and leisure travelers alike. In addition to filling the potential need of employers within the Innovation Center @ Brentwood, the area is quickly emerging as a destination for families in the San Francisco Bay Area partaking in competitive sports tournaments and is home to intimate event centers, wineries and one of a kind farm-based experiences that bring visitors into Brentwood.

Joshua Ewen, Senior Analyst – Economic Development stated, “I would like to thank Aelius Management Group and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts for their commitment to invest and partner in the vision for a better Brentwood by bringing a high-quality development to our community. This project is something greatly needed to serve travelers along the Highway 4 corridor in Contra Costa County. This project will boost Brentwood’s appeal to business travelers, tourists and families throughout the region as a place to come shop, dine, explore, live and play in our community.”

The new hotel will be developed by Jai Bahoi LLC and operated by Aelius Management Group, a California hospitality company seeking its first expansion into the San Francisco Bay Area market. The dual brand hotel will serve a variety of travelers and is anticipated to include 105 La Quinta guest rooms and suites, and 46 Hawthorn suites.

Features of the hotel’s design include:

  • Welcoming guest rooms and suites
  • Open and modern lobby
  • Meeting space
  • Food and bar service
  • Outdoor pool and grilling area
  • Fitness Center

“We identified Brentwood as the ideal location for this new exciting project due to its vibrant community and economic development,” said Sunny Patel, Chief Executive Officer – Aelius Management Group. “This is our fourth time partnering with Wyndham, and we felt that it was the perfect time to add a dual-branded property to our growing hospitality portfolio. Our team chose Brentwood, CA to develop our next project because Brentwood is a developing city that has deep roots in agriculture, but also is creating a “big city” lifestyle through businesses, architecture, and the community is taking pride in the direction of their city. We are based out of the Central Valley, which thrives from agriculture and being comprised of small towns and close knit communities, and Brentwood is one of those communities. This Brentwood location, much like our hotels in Lodi Wine Country, provide a unique opportunity to connect our guests with local winery experiences and events. We desire to contribute our years of expertise in hospitality to the Brentwood’s growing and thriving community.”

Wyndham currently has nearly 50 La Quinta and Hawthorn dual-branded hotels in its development pipeline in markets such as Austin and Charlotte. Interest for the stylish and innovative dual-brand La Quinta and Hawthorn new construction prototype has soared with developments in California markets including Redlands, Fontana and Sacramento.

“Collaborating with a leading organization like Aelius Management Group that owns and manages four hotels across our brands, will create a superb experience for business and extended stay guests,” said Krishna Paliwal, Wyndham’s president of La Quinta & Hawthorn brands and head of architecture, design, and construction. “This dual-brand hotel concept is designed to streamline development and operational costs, with a shared lobby, spacious great room, fitness center, and amenities.”

And in a few years, this hotel will be turned into housing or a homeless facility. Brentwood should focus on keeping the streets of brentwood commercial shopping and restaurants, not a hotel. You have a whole field on the other side of the freeway if they want hotels.

Nice puff piece from Wyndham and Brentwood. It does beg the question, however. Are Antioch officials asleep at the switch? Do we not have an Economic Developer? Is there not enough room in Antioch for a GOOD hotel to accommodate travelers? Why do I feel like Antioch isn’t trying?
