We are proud to report this morning that the Brentwood Police Officers Association voted earlier this week to step up for the community and donate $2,500 to the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce Holiday Parade.

Recently due to fiscal challenges, the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce was seeking sponsorships for its 31st Holiday Parade. The Brentwood Chamber of Commerce was looking for donations for up to $5,000.00 to assure the parade has the success it has had in the past and along with other donors the parade will move forward.

According to Harry Khangura, Treasure of the Brentwood Police Officers Association, it was an easy vote for their association and took less than a week to vote to donate the funds.

“The parade takes over downtown and a lot of our members live in Brentwood so if they are not working they are attending. It’s an important event for the community. It’s one of those events that everyone can go to and enjoy and the atmosphere it creates is great,” said Khangura.

With the large sponsorship from the BPOA along with other sponsorships the event will go on as planned in the past, according to Lisa Hurt from the Chamber of Commerce.

Khangura called the donation huge for their organization because they do not have a lot of funds in their association, but they wanted to show their commitment to the community with over 60 percent of their members living in Brentwood and the others in remaining cities, they felt it important to contribute.

“We are not a large organization, but we felt this event needed our support and we are looking forward to being a part of it” said Khangura.

This year’s Holiday Parade will be held in Downtown Brentwood on Saturday, November 23rd. The Downtown Brentwood Coalition will also hold their Winter Walkabout the same afternoon.

This year, every person that attends this parade needs to stop and thank a police officer. What a way to show support for your community.
