Just before 3:00 pm Monday afternoon, the Brentwood Police Department responded to a suspicious package in an outhouse at Creekside Park in Brentwood which shut down the park and trails as police waited for Walnut Creeks Bomb Squad to arrive.  During the incident, a shelter in place was ordered for the surrounding neighborhoods.

Upon arrival, it was determined this was a false alarm and crews quickly packed up and let nearby neighbors know it was safe to come out.

The threat was taken seriously as on Sept. 17,  a restroom at Bethany State Reservoir and Park located just south of Byron was destroyed in an explosion.

Creekside Park is located off Claremont Dr. and Cheshire in Brentwood.

Suspicious package in a outhouse. Out-building? Outhouse is a toilet. Do you mean restroom?
