Todd Mitsuharo Iwamoto, Mountain House, was identified as the boater who died during a fishing tournament on the Delta Saturday in Brentwood.

Iwanmoto was aboard a boat traveling at a high speed when it struck something in the water near Old River, which made the boat lose control near the bridge just before 11:30 am Saturday. Emergency crews responded to the crash where they found the driver of the boat and was treated on scene with no injuries.

A search and recovery lasted for just over 5-hours when the body was found around 5:00 pm. The boat was recovered with its engine ripped off the back. Both boaters were wearing life jackets at the time of the accident.

Anyone with information about the crash should contact the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol at (925) 427-8507 or email [email protected].
