Antioch: Vehicle Fleeing from Police Chief Collides With Building

by ECT

On November 3, Antioch Police Chief Allan Cantando engaged in a police chase that resulted in a vehicle crashing into a building after striking a parked car.

According to police, just before 2:00 pm,  Cantando was driving northbound on Lone Tree Way near Robert Street when he noticed a vehicle tailgating a vehicle and making unsafe lane changes.

Cantando attempted a traffic enforcement stop on the vehicle when a vehicle pursuit ensued. Corporal Stenger, who was staged at another location near State Route 4, joined the pursuit which terminated after Tanisha Lergent, 36, attempted to make a westbound turn on Lone Tree Way at a high rate of speed and crashed into a parked car and then into the building on the southwest corner of A St and Walter Way.

Lergent then fled the vehicle on foot and had to be taken to the ground to be taken into custody.

Police say Lergent was driving in a manner that she was because she was chasing her boyfriend who she apparently was having issues with. Lergent suffered minor injuries from the collision and required medical attention.

Police have not yet filed charges, however, anticipate doing so in the future.

No further details were provided.

Tanisha, please tell us all you have insurance that will pay the damages and you have a productive job that pays well enough to cover what the insurance will not cover. You should be thankful no one was hurt and very remorseful for actions based on strong emotions for another person you find worth dangerous driving to chase.

Yes, because a good old fashioned crash & chase is always better than a possible fender bender.
