The Antioch Police report that two subjects in the 1100 block of James Donlon had their car taken at gun point during carjacking on Sunday night. The suspects fled in the vehicle.
On Monday, police responded to a report of a vehicle crash on Golf Course Rd. and Frederickson Lane where the vehicle stolen in the carjacking had apparently crashed into a light pole and several subjects fled on foot on to Mt. Hamilton Dr. towards Dallas Ranch Middle School.
Police say officers were able to get into the area quickly and detain two 14-year-old and one 15-year-old male juvenile. Witnesses to the crash collision identified all three subjects as being in the vehicle, and further investigation lead to one of the males being identified as being involved in Sunday nights carjacking incident.
All three subjects were arrested and later sent to the Juvenile Hall on carjacking, probation violations and other charges related to both incidents. Police also also recovered some of the victim’s property.
Update:
On Tuesday, the Antioch Unified School District issued a statement saying a firearm was located early Tuesday morning by Antioch Police who were on campus looking for a firearm in relationship to an incident that occurred over the weekend.
Antioch Police Chief Tammany Brooks explained this incident was a carry over from the carjacking over the weekend where police arrested the three teens. He added that although police looked for the firearm, they were unable to locate it after chasing the teens onto the campus after the vehicle crash.
Brooks said the fact that the firearm could still be on a school campus, did not sit well with Sgt. Rick Smith who led a team to the campus Tuesday to conduct a search. They were able to locate it prior to students arriving on campus.
