Antioch: Two Arrested After Short Pursuit and Traveling Wrong Way onto Highway 4

by ECT

Two men were arrested after a short vehicle pursuit where a Jeep Cherokee entered Highway 4 in the wrong direction to avoid police around 4:30 pm Monday.

Antioch police attempted to make a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle when the vehicle occupied by three individuals took off from police and entered the wrong way up onramp westbound on eastbound Highway 4 at the A Street/Lone Tree ramps.

Police immediately terminated the pursuit because they did not want to jeopardize public safety. CHP was contacted.

Seconds later, a caller informed police the vehicle stopped and three subjects were fleeing on foot onto Tregallas between A Street and G Street.

According to radio traffic, police took both subjects into custody without incident. One subject attempted to flee on a bicycle he found in a yard. Although police would not confirm identifies heard over radio traffic, they did say both men were adults and Antioch residents.

Police are still looking for a third suspect.

The third subject came out of hiding around 6pm and grabbed my neighbors bike from in front of his house and several of our neighbors who saw him yelled and ran after him. Some others chased him in their car. He jumped off the bike and ran. Leaving it behind for the owner to pick up and bring home. This happened near Park Middle School. Be aware neighbors.
