Antioch: Police Department Welcomes Three New Officers

by ECT

The Antioch Police Department welcomed three new officers to its force Monday where they were presented their badges and took the Oath to serve the public.

Police Chief Allan Cantando welcomed officers Mike Perez, Ken Krein, and Scott Duggar.

Chief Cantando explained that the hires were made possible thanks to the leadership of the Antioch City Council.

“To the councils credit they made a very difficult decision and took on public scrutiny for hiring laterals, but from the police departments standpoint it was the right thing to do,” said Cantando. “Today, we are bringing on three able bodied young men who will make a difference in this department.”

Mark Perez – in 1993 completed an internship at the Petaluma Police Department. In 1994, he joined the Fresno Police Depart as a Reserve. In Dec. 1995, he was hired by the Stockton Police Department where he worked patrol, investigations for 18.5 years. He also worked as an auto theft detective for five years and homicide for 5-years.

Ken Krein was hired by Stockton Police in 2001 at the age of 21.

Scott Duggar – in March 2003, following the invasion into Iraq, he put his college education on hold and enlisted in the United States Marine Core where he had served for the last 11-years.

During the ceremony, Mayor Wade Harper announced that they just received a federal grant to hire five more officers.
