Antioch: Student Issued Citation After Punching Substitute Teacher in the Face, Assaulting Staff

by ECT
According to the Antioch Police Department, on January 24 at 1:46 pm, Antioch Middle School staff called to report a 13-year-old female student was detained in the office for assaulting her teacher.
Upon the officers’ arrival, they determined the student had punched her substitute teacher in the face several times causing her to fall to the ground. While on the ground, the student continued to hit the victim several more times.
School staff attempted to intervene and the student assaulted one of them.
The victim suffered minor injuries from the assault. Several students filmed the assault with their cellular phones and the videos were collected as evidence.
The student was issued a juvenile citation and was released to the custody of her mother.

A citation? Why not arrest her and send her to juvenile hall? Booted from the District while they are at it. I’d like to know where this students parents are at.

For all that is committing on the incident get you facts straight first the teacher made a racist comment to the student and she was asking why did the teacher say such a thing then why was the teacher pushing the girl and then punch her in the mouth then put her in a headlock this is not the first time something like this has happened in the Antioch unified school district I have video of the incident. Furthermore did you know within the last year two students had there arms broken by two teacher in the Antioch unified school district and there is video out on that the child in question has a discibility that the teachers was aware of and there was nothing in place to help no prevention to assist her so when you have an opinion please get your facts right because if your child was assaulted by anyone what would you do and yes she has parents that do teach her if someone hits you then you have a right to defend yourself

Let’s wait and see how long it takes until the mother or liberal minded individuals to make excuses for the student violent behavior and blame this teacher for inciting this girl to assault her.

I’m sure a citation will deter her from not assaulting anyone again, not. What a pathetic system we have. There is no respect for teachers.

Where did Antioch go wrong??????? Jan 29, 2017 - 9:30 am

Sounds fishy that she was not arrested and taken to juvenile hall. Juvenile hall may have been the intention by APD but juvenile hall has to accept the juvenile and they have guidelines setforth by the judge handling juvenile case. I could not imagine that she would not be accepted.

It’s not that they don’t know how to defend themselves. They can’t defend themselves. They would get sued. A teacher friend of mine can’t even break up a fight between students because they can claim the teacher “hurt” them while pulling them away.

No matter which side of the fence we’re on, nobody condones violence to solve problems. When radical elements of any ideology do, we all lose. Your labeling of any one group divides us further. This young person needs to know about consequences and learn better ways to communicate than by acting out. She may have mental health issues or some other factors going on. A brief news item reveals only the story but nothing about the person.

Just as I anticipated, a liberal making excuses for this kids behavior. This is what happens when parents stop teaching their children to respect adults and authority figures.

AUSD historically does nothing. There are big problems at Park and no one does a darn thing.

The girl should be arrested and ban from Antioch schools. Mandated community service and counseling. I worked for AUSD for 26 years,I was hit (minor assult), all they did was have the student go on independant study , when I asked why the student was not punished the person “incharge”,said “What do you want to do make his mom mad?” The student needed some intervention and students along with employees had and have a right to a safe education and work place! It is the responsibility of the school district to provide that for both the students AND employees, but they do not. What does that say to the student???? It empowers her to continue the awful behavior without repercussions! Shame on all the powers that be that chose to issue a citation.

Arrest her and let her sit in juvenile hall. What a piece of trash.

Safe from student assaults always boils down to the student fearing his parents’ reaction when they get home. Without this fear, the school will remain unsafe.

Dont worry folks, this will have no affect on her welfare status or the welfare status of her family. The checks will keep rolling in. Dont worry.
