Around 9:10 am Sunday, Antioch police officers responded to a report of a shooting on Sunset Lane in the 7-Eleven Parking lot off Davison.

Upon arrival, officers located a U-Haul van fleeing the scene with the shooting victim inside, but not before the gunshot victim entered a local business for “medication” after being shot.

Attempting to escape officers, the U-Haul van reached a high rate of speed headed into the Blue Rock area when Antioch Police terminated pursuit for safety reasons as the roads were wet and rain was coming down heavily.

According to Antioch Police, speeds reached more than 50-mph in a residential zone when the pursuit was terminated. An alert went out to all neighboring agencies to be on the lookout for the U-Haul as local hospitals were notified.

it was stated on scene that during the pursuit, two subjects were in the back of the U-Haul while the shooting victim drove the vehicle.

A short time later, the U-Haul was located Chevron at Bypass and Lone Tree where a female subject exited the back of the vehicle and entered Chevron seeking out the closest emergency room. At this point, the shooting victim entered the back of the U-Haul and the two subjects entered the front of the vehicle.

Shortly after being stopped at Chevron, a Brentwood Police officer located the vehicle and began to follow it awaiting additional units from Antioch Police and Brentwood to make a vehicle stop after they observed the driver had a hoody on and something covering his face.

After a turn onto Empire Road in the northbound direction, Brentwood Police made the call to stop the vehicle at Empire and Wicklow as Oakley Police were awaiting further down Empire as a precaution.

During the stop, Police located three subjects with a male who had been shot in the upper leg.

According to officers on scene, the driver of the U-Haul was wanted in connection with a fraud case in Brentwood while another subject had a $100k no-bail warrant. A third subject, a female, was detained, but its unclear of her involvement.
