Antioch: Road Rage Crash Injures Three Near Fairgrounds

by ECT

Just after 7:20 pm Monday, Antioch Police responded to a report of a head-on traffic collision on W. 10th Street in front of the Antioch Fairgrounds which left three people injured.

The incident began a few minutes earlier in downtown Antioch where there was a disturbance over a hit-and-run accident when two vehicles began chasing one another.

According to Jimmy Wisecarver of the Antioch Police Department, one car was chasing another car and ended up near the Fairgrounds on W. 10th. The car that was fleeing drove on the wrong side of the road and collided head on with somebody going eastbound. That vehicle was completely uninvolved.

“The collision caused major damage to both vehicles,” said Wiscarver. “The guy was chasing the first vehicle circled around and drove his car into the original guy he was chasing.”

According to radio traffic, that action during the response caused police to upgraded to an assault with a deadly weapon by a gray Jaguar with a damaged bumper.

“The guy being chased by the Jaguar called dispatch saying he was being chased by a man with a gun, however, no one else saw it,” said Wisecarver. “We have no witnesses to confirm he had a gun.”

The speed limit where the crash occurred is listed at 35-mph and according to radio traffic CONFIRE had to extricate a subject out of one of the vehicles.

The subject who was fleeing had a non-extraditable warrant out of Pennsylvania.  The gray Jaguar was not located by Police and a Be-On-The-Lookout (BOLA) was issued in Pittsburg.

No further information was provided.
