At roughly 1:45 pm, Antioch police responded to 3000 Block of Lovebird Way after a man returning home found an unknown man inside his house and in the process of a burglary.
Antioch police say the resident confronted the subject and tried to physically detain him but the responsible was able to escape out the front door. The victim got into his vehicle and began following the responsible down the street. As he did, the responsible began brandishing a firearm at the victim, who continued to follow at a distance.
The responsible jumped a fence into the backyard of a residence in the 3000 block of Swallow Way and the victim lost sight of him. The victim watched the residence until officers arrived.
A perimeter was set up and the residence and yard were checked by officers but the responsible was not located. The victim was not injured during the incident and no shots were fired.
This incident is still under investigation.
According to radio traffic, units were responded to the possibility the subject who fled was armed after the resident pulled a gun on the bugler who then took it from the resident and fled. According to our readers, Antioch Police set up a perimeter and had guns drawn.
This incident is still under investigation.

If our elected officials would respect our rights with respect to guns, that burglar would think twice about invading a persons.Too bad the homeowner didn’t take the scumbag out permanently.

Having a gun in this situation did not help. The burglar took it from the resident. In this case, bringing a gun into the equation backfired and now you have a gun where there may not have been one before. Luckily no one was killed or shot.
You don’t pull out a gun unless you intend to shoot it. You don’t shoot someone unless you intend to kill them. This homeowner used poor judgement if in fact the gun was taken from him. Anyone reading this know it’s better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6!
Here is how it works in Detriot. Sounds like a good plan to me with all these thugs. We need this chief & the laws to back him up.

Where does it say the victim had a gun? If the victim did have a gun and was properly train in using it the outcome would have been much different. One less thug on the street
Everything I have read and seen on tv news leaves out that the resident had a gun and the burglar took it away from him. Where did this site get that specific info and no other paper or tv news reports that.
