On Monday, the City of Antioch reminds residents that the State and County Orders are clear: community gatherings are prohibited in outdoor places including recreational team sports, contact sports and social parties.

According to a release on Monday, Antioch residents are reminded to use City parks and trails for exercise and socially distant activities with families only.

“The City has received many reports of large un-permitted gatherings in parks, as well as teams and spectators meeting for sporting events,” said Nancy Kaiser, Parks and Recreation Director. “Parks are essential to physical and mental well-being, but it is important that we all follow State and County Health Orders to keep the virus from spreading.”

State of California public health directives prohibit professional, social and community gatherings because they pose an especially high danger of transmission and spread of COVID-19. Gatherings are defined as meetings or other events that bring together persons from multiple households at the same time for a shared or group experience in a single room, space, or place such as an auditorium, stadium, arena, large conference room, meeting hall, or other indoor or outdoor space.

Contra Costa County also prohibits public events and gatherings as well as recreational team sports. According to the County, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors used its emergency powers under state law to pass Urgency Ordinance No. 2020-21 on July 28th. This urgency ordinance establishes administrative fines for violations of public health orders pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic. The ordinance may be enforced in cities and districts within the County.

Residents are encouraged to stay connected with the City of Antioch by following the daily announcements posted on the website For more information about park use and the activities allowed at this time please call the Recreation Department at 925-776-3050.

  1. Unless you’re rioting and vandalizing a business
Then there absolutely NOTHING is prohibited

  2. People need to mind their own business, not everyone is living in FEAR!! Bunch of tattle tails!!

    • To get rid of this cursed CHINESE VIRUS, the whole country need to be SHUT DOWN! Stay at home and if you have to go out to deliver food to the elderly or go feed someone’s pets, WEAR A MASK and stay away from people.

If this is done than the CHINESE VIRUS will be gone in 4 weeks!

  3. Left Antioch 8 years ago because it was becoming infested with ignorant ghetto hood rats and this just shows it’s gotten worse than I imagine.

As a black man these fools are an embarrassment and a disgrace to those of us who know the true meaning of true dignity and self-respect

  4. This really isn’t helping the BLM cause. To be honest it’s just natural selection at this point. Let the virus kill them off. Problem solved, can’t blame the virus for discrimination.

  5. Fu#* Antioch officials, Fu#* Social Distancing, this sh*t is fake! We are tired of this!!! #PowerToThePeople

    • Hey Caesar, why not invite all of these great folks over to your house this weekend since you don’t believe the pandemic is real?

I’m sure these folks will respect you and your property!!!!

  6. In order to get rid of this virus, the ENTIRE county should be shut down BY LAW. Only emergency outings to bring food to one’s parents or to feed animals should be permitted. Otherwise we will never get rid of this pestilence. With colder months coming, the virus will REALLY spike to such a level and it will make your head spin!

Remember, viruses MUTATE! That’s their job!

Wear your masks. Keep yur distance if you must go out. STAY HOME! Newsom should get on the ball here.
