A retired sheriffs deputy turned real estate agent pulled his firearm on a squatter inside an Antioch home after the subject tried to run through a house and hide.
According to Antioch Police, the incident occurred on January 12 at 12:45 pm where the retired deputy was contacted by another agent who advised him there were squatters in a vancant house he was listing in the 3100 block of View Dr.
Police say the retired deputy, who also has a concealed weapons permit went to the home to investigate.
They highlighted that when the agent went inside he contacted Gary Duarte, age 43, who was running through and hiding in the house. The real estate agent pulled his firearm and held Duarte at gunpoint until APD arrived.
A citizen’s arrest for trespassing was made. Duarte was brought to APD where he was booked and released on a citation.

Great job!!!!! Get these scum bags out of here!
No empathy to be found in these comments. I hope you never are down your luck. Christ would have helped the squatter, while you’re all here wishing the retired cop would have shot him.
I can see the headline now “Squatter Sues Real Estate Agent for Discrimination” for refusing to allow him to live in the property rent free and holding him at gunpoint until police arrive. Duarte states “I should be able to live in any vacant house for as long as I want regardless of who owns the property. Forcing me to leave violates my civil rights and the ACLU and East County NAACP has agreed to help me sue the real estate agent and homeowner”! LOL
Once a cop, always a cop. Great job indeed!
We need more people like the real estate agent around to keep those freeloading people off of private property.
Great job!
