Just before 9:30 pm Wednesday, Antioch Police responded to a report of a subject reportedly shot after walking into Lowes in the 1900 block Somersville Road in Antioch.
The driver of a minivan crashed outside the Garden Center and walked into the store suffering from a gunshot wound. Preliminary information as of last night says the man was shot in the parking lot.
Police did confirm the victim was shot in the face and said he is expected to survive. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Per a Lowes employee, the suspect was a black male adult who fled on foot down down Mahgoney.
Antioch Police said Thursday morning the investigation into the shooter is ongoing.

A Black male walked up and shot this man in the face. (My thoughts and prayers go out to this person and his family as the recovery proceed begins).
Question (s):
Was this a gang initiation?
Was it a robbery?
Does this person have a psychological issue?
Did they have a street disagreement or argument?
If any of them or all of them are true that doesn’t relinquish the suspect’s responsibility. And, he will pay the price for his actions.
Fact #2
There are a fair share of crimes committed by all races. However, when a black person commits a crime and is caught the race card is thrown in as a defense. Let’s see, Racism is: that all members of each race possesses characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or Superior to another race or races. If you see a crime being commited, report it – even if it’s your own family/friends involved. Antioch can be a great city that is if everyone gets involved. Place Antioch on the Map as a place to live. This is our city, which includes EVERYONE!!!
Again, a tragedy has occurred with a man being shot in the face. If you know who did this horrible deed report him. That would be a good start.

This issue is not about race as much as it is about individuals terrorizing the community.
As a previous writer stated the arrest statistics in Antioch very clearly show that a much higher percentage of black men commit crimes in the city then any other racial group.
When I moved to Antioch in the late 90’s it was a nice, quiet, peaceful community. As a black family moving into our neighborhood we were only the second to live on our block. Our new neighbors welcomed us and treated us with kindness. Our children played together and we never experienced any problems with race.
Why was our experience so different you ask? It’s because we were respectful of other’s around us and we made the effort to get to our neighbors and in doing so, they realized we were people they could respect and admire. Unfortunately, the thugs who moved in from Oakland, Richmond, and San Francisco in the past 12 years changed the perception of blacks who had lived peacefully in Antioch for years. Because of the behavior of these young black men, women, and their irresponsible parents, race relations in Antioch has regressed 50 years.
The simple truth is when individuals from the “hood” with a “everyone owes me something attitude” moves into neighborhoods were they view members of their new community “as weak and vulnerable” a once quiet city will become a battle of Us vs. Them and as a black man, the change that has happened in Antioch makes me angry and embarrassed for every other black family that moved here and wants to be a asset to the community.

However, the helm was driven by a bunch of individuals who lack leadership (Mayors and Councilmembers) and Antioch’s future. I didn’t vote for them! The buck starts there, elect better officials and the city will change.

A few questions for all those claiming that race is the prime origin of Antioch’s crime-wave:
Is there a specific chromosomal abnormality that results in African-Americans committing more crimes than other races? If so, what is it about the DNA of other races that causes less violent behavior? Is there a specific region of black DNA that gives rise to violent crime? If so, could you offer data on which chromosome is responsible for all of this?
Even if blacks are statistically committing more crimes than others in this area, it doesn’t mean that race is the reason. Correlation doesn’t prove causation. We could simply be dealing with a culture war, an ongoing class war, etc. To claim that race is the reason for crime would mean that some genetic evidence needs to be offered. So far most on this site are just blowing smoke up the ass of the status quo.
