The Antioch Police said Monday that a man who was attacked in the parking lot of Jack-in-the-Box on A Street is expected to survive.

The incident occurred on in the 2500 block of A Street off Highway 4 where a male was walking when he observed 25-year-old Freddy Gonzalez in the parking lot.

Police say the male suspected his girlfriend of cheating on him with Gonzalez and decided to confront him.  Gonzalez obtained a large machete from his vehicle and began attacking the male.

The male sustained lacerations to his legs and hand.

The victim was transported to the hospital where he underwent surgery, but was expected to survive. No update on the victim’s status has been provided by police.

Gonzalez was located in his vehicle and arrested without incident.  He was identified as the responsible by an independent witness and sent to county jail for assault with a deadly weapon.

Some fight for justice, some for peace. This guy, for a female who cheated on him. Way to dig the hole even deeper. In the words of DJ Khaled, “Congratulations, you played yourself”.
