Antioch: Loss Prevention Officers Cut with Box Cutter by Shoplifter

by ECT

On March 14 at 12:08 pm, Antioch Police responded to a report of a shoplifter in custody who had fought with plain clothed loss prevention personnel at JC Penny located in the 4900 block of Slatten Ranch Road.

According to Antioch Police Sergeant Rick Smith, loss prevention officers had observed a subject, later identified as 58 year old Antioch Resident Tony Cotton enter into the store and begin placing clothing into a back pack. He was contacted outside of the store by loss prevention when he exited without paying for the merchandise.

They identified themselves and Cotton refused to return to the store.

Sgt. Smith highlighted that a struggle began when loss prevention attempted to arrest him. During the struggle, Cotton produced a box cutter and assaulted both loss prevention officers. Cotton was secured in handcuffs and brought back into the store. All merchandise was recovered.

Contra Costa County Fire and AMR were dispatched for stab wounds, however, police say both loss prevention officers suffered minor injuries as a result of this incident. Both had minor
lacerations and only one required further medical attention.

Cotton suffered no injuries and was booked at the Antioch Police Department on felony charges. He was later transferred to the Martinez Detention Facility.

This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call the Antioch Police at (925) 778-2441. You may also text a tip to 274637 (CRIMES) using key word ANTIOCH.

Antioch is now known for the low life POS town. If the city gave more free sh….t to these thugs maybe they would not steal, rape, rob, and pillage. They would only murder each other.

Gotta love AB 109. The release of criminals to their families who are now section 8 home renters of 5 bedroom homes with pools, once worth almost a million dollars.

Welcome to Antioch, the capital of section 8 and community ran by the NAACP.

How can we stop this? It needs to be stopped

Two ways:

1) start suing homeowners for the crap their section 8 renters are doing to you and your neighborhood. You have the right to enjoy your home peacefully and without the annoyance of ghetto people.

2) vote more fiscally responsible people into office at local, state, and national level. Vote for the ones who are not into free handouts and enforce able bodied people into getting a job instead of milking the tax payers.

Start with the upcoming elections. I will not be voting for anyone from Antioch that believes in free stuff. It’s easy to tell who they are.

You Sir are very wise man! Who should I vote for? I need advice, since I’m not too familiar with candiates?

Another incident of scum trying to get something for nothing. Antioch and Brentwood businesses have had many problems with assault on employees, Happy to see this one reported because some never are reported to the public. Glad the officers were not seriously hurt.

Wow, we actually managed to get a thief in handcuffs. I have witnessed many loss prevention officers run out the store chasing a “suspect” but give up chase in the parking lot. At least I read about it. Now I want to witness this success for myself. At least three times a year I see this sad snatch and chase at any retail store.

The entire East County was shoplifted from its previous native owners. Why so much violence in our corner of the Bay? Consider that this area was once the most populated region out of the entire U.S. prior to European arrival. Where are all this folks now? This whole place is built above skulls and bones. We are living out our cycle of collective karma…
