Antioch: Firefighters Vehicles Broken Into While Training

by ECT

While firefighters were out training in a vacant field off Canada Valley Road and Highway 4 in Antioch last week, their personal vehicles were targeted by thieves.

According to Richard Sonsteng, Battalion Chief, while they were out training, at least four firefighters had their wallets and other items stolen from their vehicles while they were up on the hill.

Sonsteng later said the wallets were later found on Vasco Road by the California Highway Patrol.

Last week, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District were training to prepare for the upcoming fire season which they spent 3-days performing controlled burns.

In April, we reported that a firefighter had his dirt bike stolen out of his vehicle while out on a call from Station 81.

Meanwhile, a source from Station 93 in Oakley stated they had an attempted break in last week while they were out on a call.

Don’t you just hate it when people are asking questions for which they already have the answer? Take Phil for instance, wants info on something he already knows about.

Why were the firefighters driving their personal vehicles ? The union and county should not allow that. Now they will make a claim to the county and we will again pay for their play time in the weeds.

Hey old guy, there should be an award for your special kind of stupid comment. Play time in the weeds? Whatever.
