Antioch: Firefighters Quickly Knockdown Kitchen Fire Limiting Damages

At 3:30 pm Monday, Contra Costa County firefighters responded to a report of a stove top fire in the 1900 block of Grizzly Ct. in the City of Antioch.

While responding, it was reported by the resident that the fire extended up the wall and the ceiling was on fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters reported heavy coming from all eaves of the home which could be seen from Highway 4. Firefighters began to make fire attack and were able to prevent spread into the attic. By 3:45 pm, the fire was deemed knocked out with heavy overall required.

According to Bob Atlas, Battalion Chief, the fire damages were estimated around $60,000 to the kitchen and attic with no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire was accidental from cooking.
