Antioch: Firefighters Limit Vegetation Fire to a Little Over an Acre

by ECT

At 3:22 pm Saturday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vegetation fire in the area of the 2200 block of Viera Ave in the City of Antioch.

This is a known homeless area and upon arrival, approximately an acre of vegetation was on fire. Access to firefighters after the City of Antioch placed cement barriers at access points to prevent homeless vehicles from parking in the area.

By 4:06 pm, the fire was contained at an estimated 1.5 acres. No other information was readily available.

Those barriers have stopped nobody. They just knocked down fence next to barriers. Newsom should rent all of this acreage out. It houses quite a lot of residents and they are out of the way. Put some facilities out there and call it a day.

Why in hell are the homeless allowed to stay there and keep setting that area on fire? How much more of this will be tolerated? Maybe take some rafts, put the homeless on them and let those rafts reach the other shoreline! Enough of this craziness!
