At 3:42 pm Saturday, firefighters responded to a vegetation fire on Vista Grande Dr. on a hilltop behind Carmen Dragon Elementary School in Antioch.
Crews from both Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (82, 81, 88) and East Contra Costa Fire Protection District (93, 52) responded to the fire. Firefighters quickly worked to create a fire line to prevent further spread while simultaneously letting it burn itself out.
Crews were on scene for just over an hour watching for flare ups and performing mop up duties.
The school was never in any danger. The incident was possibly started from a firework.
Back in August, firefighters battled a similar fire a few hundred feet away. Click here to see those photos.
