Antioch: Firefighters Battle Downtown Vegetation Fire

At 10:15 am Friday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters were dispatched to a report of a vegetation along the railroad tracks in the 1300 block of W 4th Street in the City of Antioch.

The fire was described as being located behind the Antioch Police Department and the Antioch Historical Society building. Explosions were heard prior to the fire breaking out. Engine 81 confirmed smoke was showing from the station.

Battalion 8 was on scene as of 10:24 am reporting the fire was at 1/4 acre of grass, trees and brush on fire.

UPDATE
As of 10:38 am, the fire was contained to 1/4 acre.
