Antioch: 14-Year-Old Boy Caught in Crossfire Walking Home From School

At roughly 3:12 pm, Antioch Police responded to the 1400 block of Sycamore Drive for a reported shooting that left a 14-year-old boy shot in the arm with non-life threatening injuries as he walked home from school. The boy was released from the hospital late Monday afternoon.

According to radio traffic, bullets struck several several cars with the shooter being discribed as an African American man, between 18 and 20 years old. He is estimated to be 5’10” to 6′ 2″ tall, with long, dark, braided hair and he was wearing a light shirt at the time.

The incident shut down traffic on Sycamore for about an hour as police worked the scene to collect evidence and locate bullet casings as multiple shots were fired.

At approximately 1512hrs, Antioch Police were called to the 1400 block of Sycamore Dr for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, Officers found a 14yo juvenile suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The juvenile was not involved in any type of dispute and appears to have been caught in the crossfire. He was taken to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Several vehicles in the area were also struck by stray bullets. No other gunshot victims have come forward. The motive for this shooting is unknown and officers are following up on potential leads.
