This morning, Antiocg Police received a call from a citizen who heard shots in the area of Sycamore Drive and Spanos Street. Officers were dispatched to the area and found a male on the railroad tracks. When the officers tried to contact the man, he ran from officers.
A lengthy foot chase ensued, and the suspect was taken into custody on Crestview Drive. As he was running from the officers, he discarded a handgun. K9 Kona was deployed to help officers locate the gun, and she quickly found it!
It was learned that the person who ran from officers had a warrant out of Sonoma County for a prior, unrelated, weapons offense. We are grateful to have citizens in our community who are quick to call in information as they are witnessing something suspicious.
