Antioch: Pedestrian in Critical Condition, Another Injured, After being Struck by Vehicle

by ECT

At 6:30 am Tuesday, Antioch Police responded to the intersection of Lone Tree Way at Davison Drive on the report of a traffic accident with injuries.

According to radio traffic, a vehicle collided with two pedestrians with two people laying in the roadway. Contra Costa County firefighters responded to the scene and immediately requested a medical helicopter, however, due to weather, both REACH and CALSTAR declined to fly.

By 6:50 am, both patients were en route to John Muir Medical Center.

Antioch Police released preliminary information saying that an SUV traveling through the intersection struck two pedestrians walking in the roadway. Both pedestrians sustained injuries and were transported to an area hospital. One pedestrian is currently in critical condition.

The driver of the SUV remained on scene and was being fully cooperative with the investigation. At this preliminary stage of the investigation, police say alcohol and drugs do not appear to have played a role for the driver.

The Antioch Police Department’s Traffic Unit responded to the scene to conduct the on-
going collision investigation. No further information was released.
