At 4:42 pm Friday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to two-alarm residential structure fire on O’Hara Avenue and Atherton which caused $400,000 in damages.
Upon arrival, Battalion 5 observed a well involved garage fire that was extending into the house while also dealing with the threat of strong winds. A second alarm was called after firefighters began attacking the garage and attic to prevent extensions.
A second home was damaged in the fire which sustained minor damage to the roof and interior space while a nearby field caught fire, however, that was limited to an acre.
The fire was put out in just under an hour and a total of 25-firefigthers were required on the blaze and no injuries were reported.
The incident is still under investigation with the Contra Costa County Arson Investigation Unit.
