CONFIRE Saves Pittsburg Home After Side Yard Fire Catches Home on Fire

by ECT

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Firefighters extinguished a house fire that began on a  side yard of a home on Burton Ave in Pittsburg and saved the home from becoming fully engulfed.

The fire, which was reported at 9:45 am, began as a reported fence fire between two homes that caught one of the homes on fire. The fire started to catch the siding of a garage on fire when crews arrived and worked quickly extinguished the blaze before major damage occurred and prevented extensions into both the garage and roof.

Crews were on scene for roughly 2 hours and 10 minutes.  Just 10-minutes earlier, there was a reported residential fire on the 3800 block of Arlington Cir. in Pittsburg with reported smoke inside a home but crews had been cancelled (after 11-minutes)  freeing up the engines to respond to the Burton Ave incident.

According to the Battalion Chief on duty, the cause of the fire is still under investigation but he did state this should be considered “a save” for the District.  The Pittsburg Police Department was on scene blocking off portions of Burton Ave and for crowd control.
