The Brentwood Police Department announced Thursday that an investigation has led to an arrest of a Brentwood man involved in homemade illegal gun manufacturing.
According to police, the firearms were made using 3D printers and other tools.
On Wednesday, members from our Investigations Division executed a Search Warrant in the 2000 block of Azalea Way here in Brentwood. For the past several months, Detectives have been investigating 23-year-old Scott Leeper (Brentwood) concerning illegal firearms manufacturing.
The investigation revealed Leeper was in possession of several operable firearms that were not registered with the California Department of Justice (DOJ). This included a rifle that according to the California Penal Code met the definition of an “assault weapon.”
The search of Leeper’s residence revealed containers of various calibers of ammunition, 3D printers used to aid in the manufacture of firearms, 3D printing supplies, two semi-automatic rifles, 30-round magazines, and various parts or tools used to manufacture weapons – including the firearms pictured. Leeper was arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for illegal possession of an assault weapon, manufacturing an assault weapon, and various other firearm charges.
No other information was released.
