On Monday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a fuel spill in the 5900 block of Marina Road in the Town of Discovery Bay.

Upon arrival in the 5900 block of Marina Road just before 10:30 am, Engine 59 confirmed fuel was in the waterway and requested both Contra Costa County Hazmat and the Coast Guard, along with a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District fire boat.

The incident was contained to the area around the Discovery Bay Yacht Harbor.

According to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the source of the spill was stopped and cleanup was underway late Monday. In total, 400 gallons were estimated to have spilled into the delta waters after a fueling station failed.

They also reported two Canada geese received medical care.

The cause of the spill is under investigation by the Coast Guard.
