ATTENTION TO DETAIL LEADS TO ARREST (No date or time provided)

Brentwood PDOne of the most important aspects of an officer’s training is the attention to detail; especially when those details may not always be obvious.

Brentwood officers were patrolling the area of Brentwood Blvd and Sycamore Avenue when they observed a vehicle in front of them which had a rear brake light out. The officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop on the vehicle and while speaking to the driver, one of the officers noticed what appeared to be a barrel of a firearm protruding from a bag inside the vehicle. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were safely detained without incident.

During the course of the officer’s investigation they located a loaded shotgun and a loaded handgun. Both weapons were not registered and accessible to both the driver and the passenger.

The driver, Angel SERANNO (Merced), was placed under arrest for several charges including carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a concealed weapon in a vehicle; among other charges. The passenger, who was a minor, was also placed under arrest for possession of a concealed firearm.

Great job to the officer who immediately recognized the firearm in the vehicle while conducting their investigation; and for taking two

At the same time we need to get rid of those ridiculous license plate covers that essentially obscure the plate unless your 4′ away. Why the CHP and our State legislature haven’t addressed that is puzzling?
