At 4:45 am, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a commercial fire at Tailgaters Sports Bar & Grill in Brentwood off Brentwood Blvd and saved the building from going up in flames.

This was a fantastic “save” thanks to someone spotting it early and calling it in. Engine 54 arrived first on scene and were able to exterior the fire quickly. The fire caught the side of the building and made its way up towards the roof, however, crews were able to put out the blaze and prevent it from extending inside the building.

Crews from engines 52, 93 and 94 were also on scene along with Battalion 5 and Chief Henderson. Quint 83 was called, however, were cancelled in route once it was determined the fire did not enter the building. Brentwood Police were also on hand as a precaution.

Damages are estimated at $20,000 with damage to the exterior of the building with minor smoke damage throughout the business.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

No word yet on whether the business will be open later today or not.

Station 54 Notes

Just like on June 17 when La Fuente caught fire in downtown Brentwood, Engine 54 played a huge role in a quick response and putting out the fire. This downtown station is currently on “borrowed time” as they are open due to a FEMA Grant which is set to expire in November of 2014 unless additional funding can be generated.

Two restaurants have now been saved in the last month thanks to Station 54 simply being open as well as a home last week which was saved.

I could be wrong, but it seems that Brentwood is having an epidemic of fires. Is it possible that the area has it’s very own arsonist?

From the looks of one of the photos, it could’ve been an electrical fire.

Nice coverage. We would not have known about this otherwise. Antioch’s new Tailgaters also had a fire a few weeks back

I was going to reply that I think there are a lot of fires being set in Brentwood on the sides of buildings? Seems kind of questionable. Is someone trying to save this fire dept. which is fine with me but there are other ways to go about doing it.

Antioch Tailgaters isn’t even supposed to open but I see someone is working on it still.

The fire service has been demanding more money. Who knows what’s really going on with all these fires. Maybe it is just a coincidence. This site focuses on quite a bit of fire stuff. maybe it just looks like a lot of fires.
