EastCountyToday was on scene last night as police moved in on a suspect with two gunshot wounds who led police on a chase after gun shots were reported at 5:18 pm on the 2200 block of L Street in Antioch.
The incident appears to have begun after a group of people fired at one another in the Sycamore Dr. area between Lemontree Way and L Street. The man who was shot, led police to L Street and then worked his way back to Manzanita Way and Mahogany Way where he tried to hide in a yard.
As the man hid, police evacuated the home with no injuries to the family—which had young boys.
Upon pulling the suspect from the yard, it was confirmed that he had two gunshot wounds but it appears he would be okay according to one officer on scene.
The incident required a medical transport which required Contra Costa County Fire and American Medical Response to treat the man on scene prior to transport.
Making our way back to L Street, officers were working the original scene where a gun shot went through a car.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Anyone with information on the crime should contact the Antioch Police Department at 925-778-2441. You can also text a tip to 274637 (CRIMES) using key word ANTIOCH.
DISCLAIMER: Some of the photos are graphic that some of my readers may find disturbing please use viewer discretion as it does show a man shot with blood.
In two separate incidents:
A 21-year-old man was shot and killed Wednesday morning at roughly 12:26 am on the 1900 block of D Street. Police arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound.
Earlier in the day, police responded to the 4400 block of Horseshoe Circle around 5:45 p.m. and found a 70-year-old Antioch man dead inside a home.

You never let me down when it comes to real news in Antioch. Great photographs and nice work Antioch PD. We appreciate you.
Nice we get to now pay for his first rate medical care! Woot!
now I know that if I am ever surrounded by cops to just give up. They are packing some major heat. Great job Antioch PD.
It’s time to call a spade a spade and burn down the “trees”.
Burning down the “trees” is not the answer. I would keep criminals in jail. Rehab just puts the rest of us in danger.
We drove through the area last night as it was happening on “L” Street. Nothing was blocked off. Kind of odd.
Thanks Mike for the coverage. Many thanks to APD for another great job. Be safe out there.
great photos, everybody in Antioch should view them
Is this guy from Oakland too, or is he homegrown?
Great photos once again. Can’t please ’em all.
Kudos to APD.
