Norma Arreguin Selected as the Contra Costa County Employee of the Year

by ECT

The Brentwood Union School District is proud to announce that Garin School para-professional Norma Arreguin has been selected as the Contra Costa County Employee of the year in the para-professional/instructional aide division.

Ms. Arreguin is a long time Garin School contributor. She has been a campus supervisor, and instructional aide performing intervention services, a classroom volunteer, translator and District Employee Child Care Assistant. She volunteers to serve on many committees and has been a trainer for Garin bilingual parents. Ms. Arreguin leads the organization of the “Day of the Child” multi-cultural event every year at Garin Elementary.  She always is focused on helping others and always has a smile on her face. Outside of her work at Garin School, she continues to provide help and support for families in need.  An amazing example was when she heard of a parent with a child at Children’s Hospital in Oakland, she drove that parent to Oakland every night and served as an advocate in ensuring her child received the best and most appropriate care.

Garin Principal Stacy Joslin siad “Norma is very dedicated. She goes above and beyond in everything she does. She is always helping people with a smile on her face. She is the true example of a joyous servant to others. If anyone needs help, she is there.”

Superintendent Dana Eaton said, “The county made an outstanding choice in selecting Norma Arreguin for this award.  She is a tireless advocate for students and families at Garin School.  She is committed to improving student lives and does so on a regular basis.  We are so proud of her.”

Ms. Arreguin will be honored at a April 28, 2016 reception at the Contra Costa County Office of Education.  She has also been advanced to the state level for consideration of recognition.
