Lumpy’s Diner Event Raises More Than $4k for Special Kids Foundation

by ECT

Lumpy’s Diner Annual Car Show and Burger Eating contest has raised over $4,000 for the Special Kids Foundation thanks to community participation and the “Beard for Bucks” fundraiser.

Last night’s family friendly event featured a little bit of everything from good food, to a kid’s zone. The kids zone included jumpy houses, a petting zoo, face painting, and even a kids coloring contest.

Meanwhile, the “Beards for Bucks” was a hit as participants had been raising funds over the last month(s) to grow out a beard and shave it at the event.  One participant had over $1,000 raised while several others raised over $500 for their beards.

In a prior article, we highlighted the kid’s contest where 13-participants raced to see who can eat two burgers the fasted.

Finally, the adult contest was a hit as contestants were to eat up to 12-burgers in 12-minutes. The winner ate10 1/4 burgers while second finished 10-burgers.  The winner received $1,000, second $250, and third $100.

Folks who could not stomach eating 12-burgers, were able to purchase a shirt to help support the cause.

“This is just one of the ways I can give back to the community that supports my family owned business,” says Lumpy.

The event had an estimated more than 1,000 people in attendance.

Loved the event. Lumpy’s Angles are any teenage boys dream. WOW! Lumpy has the beards for dudes, he should consider having his angels do a fundraiser of some sort which would raise a lot of cash. Imagine the angels up there eating burgers or banna splits the fastest!
