Letter: Stonebarger’s Recommend John Fink for Brentwood City Council

by ECT

Dear Editor and Community of Brentwood:

Integrity, get it done attitude and supporter of the Ag Community are three main qualities we are looking for in a candidate. Aside from his professional experience as a Planning Commissioner, John Fink possesses all of these qualities and many more that we feel will make him a great addition to Brentwood’s City Council.

When Harvest Time in Brentwood initially opened its Festival Planning Committee for volunteers, John was one of the first people to jump on board. He brought great ideas to every  meeting along with his get it done attitude. John took his assignments from each meeting, exhausted all options to find the best solutions and brought them to the following meeting.  We watched him navigate difficult situations with integrity and come up with solutions that were fair to all parties involved. His eagerness to support and learn more about the Ag Community didn’t stop after the Festival. John requested meetings with the farmers to learn how he could be of value to our community, if elected into City Council.

Economic Development has been a main talking point for many candidates, bringing in new businesses to create jobs to keep up with housing developments. What the other candidates haven’t addressed with the Ag Community directly, is how to keep Ag expanding in Brentwood. The Ag Community in Contra Costa County has over 2,000 employees, many of those jobs being in Brentwood. According the Contra Costa Agriculture Commission, the Ag industry is responsible for putting $225 million dollars into the local economies. Due to outdated rules, it’s next to impossible to get new, regulated, farm stands, farm to table restaurants, wine bottling facilities, and other Ag related ventures in Brentwood. John has expressed his commitment, face to face, to many farmers in the Ag Community and promise to be our voice from the City to the County, which in turn will help produce more Ag industry jobs in Brentwood.

Finally, we have full confidence that John isn’t just making decisions based on present day, but he’s looking at the impact his decision will have on the future of Brentwood. We highly recommend John Fink, on a personal and professional level, for Brentwood City Council.
