Last week, a random act of kindness occurred during the birthday party for the girlfriend of Sgt. Scott Lunger, Jenn, at BJ’s Restaurant in Brentwood.
Sgt. Lunger was a 48-year-old Brentwood resident who died in the line of duty on July 22 where he was shot and killed during a traffic stop in Hayward. Lunger, was a 15-year veteran of the Hayward Police Department.
During a birthday celebration with around 40-people of close family and friends, the waitress caught wind of who was at the restaurant and wanted to do something nice.
According to the party, the waitress called her fiance Corey who drove down and paid for the entire dinner. The waitress or her fiance did not know Jenn or Sgt. Lunger, they just wanted to show support.
One of the people who attended said they were in tears that a stranger could do such an amazing thing for a person, let alone a group of 40. Corey said they have been praying for Sgt. Lunger and his family since they heard about the incident.
The party goer said once again it made me so proud to call Brentwood my home. From the bottom of my heart Thank you Taryn “Tara”, Corey and all of BJ’s staff for treating us with such kindness and generosity tonight. You truly are Angels sent from Heaven
